Nike Golf Woods
The woods are the longest clubs that you will find in a golf bag and are commonly used for the longest shots, especially from the tee. Their head is a spherical shape, and they used to be made solely from sold wood, to assist in the power transfer from the swing to the ball. Most commonly used was maple or persimmon, which is how they got their name. Nowadays, it is not unusual for them to be made out of titanium, steel or other alloys and tend not to be solid, but hollow. These are
referred to as metal woods. When composites where first introduced they where filled with foam, to give them more strength.
The longest wood is the one wood, which is also commonly known as the driver. From the whole range, it has the largest head and therefore is the most used golf club from the tee shot. The shorter woods (the 3 and 5 woods are most commonly used, with 2,4, 7 and 9 woods occasionally used) are referred to as fairway woods or fairway drivers, and feature a shallower face height which enables players to hit them directly off the turf or grass. The driver can also be hit from the turf, although it requires a high level of skill to execute the shot correctly and without error.
Nike Golf offers a range of woods or drivers.
