Nike Golf Irons
The Nike Golf irons are numbered from one to nine. Unlike woods, they tend not to be used that frequently from the tee, unless it is a short hole. They ideally are used for the shots that are less in distance, for instance an approach shot to the green. These are the most versatile golf clubs in a golf bag. A seasoned golfer can use just one of these golf clubs for a variety of different shots. The lower
numbered golf irons have a lower loft. The shortest irons are commonly referred to as the wedges. The typical iron set however consists of the irons three to pitching wedge. Highly skilled players or professionals may use a two iron, but the one iron is nowadays almost never used even amongst professional players. The dwindling use of the longest irons is largely attributed to the rising popularity of hybrid clubs, which offer a better trajectory and ease of use.
Irons can be classified into three categories, the long, mid and short irons. The golf clubs numbered one to fours irons (with lower lofts) are usually considered ' the long irons', the five to seven irons are called the 'mid irons' and the eight to pitching wedge (with higher lofts) are called the 'short irons'. This is not set in stone. Depending on the actual skill of the golfer you are talking to, the classification may differ from person to person. Some better players may
consider a seven iron a short iron, while a high-handicap player may think of a five iron as a long iron. Though long and mid irons are typically used for approach or tee shots, the short irons and wedges may also be used for the short game (pitching, chipping, sand play, and in some instances even putting).
Nike Golf offers a full range of golf irons. The Nike CCi is brand new for 2007 and has a steel shaft, plus there is a graphite alternative.
The Ignite is from the Hybrid range and then you also have the slingshot range - all of which can be bought securely online through GolfOnline.co.uk.
